Perfect Blue and Duplicates

It felt odd at first to consider a comfort horror movie, but honestly, I'd have to say that mine is Satoshi Kon's "Perfect Blue." It's one of the few movies I've made the active choice to rewatch these days, and every viewing leads to introspection. With this viewing--the first time watching the dub--a thought came to mind.

If you were faced with a duplicate of yourself, what would you do?

If they voiced your worst insecurities, if they mocked the path you finding your footing on, if they were a "you" who never made the mistakes you're making. The list of variations can continue ad infinitum. I'd like to say that I'd try to accept them, the parts of me that I've been trying to heal and comfort over the past few years.

Something something, we all have our demons, something, something.

I hope that, however that duplicate talks to me, I still hold them with kindness and understanding. I also hope that whoever is reading this had something tasty to eat today. I had salmon hibachi.

It was pretty solid.
